Just how significant is forgiveness in human life? Is it one of the optional nice-to-haves, which we can manage without if we have to? Or is it written into who we are as people, something that actually helps us to thrive in life? If it is important in the way we're wired, is it possible that it may also affect our relationship with God? Forgiveness is a big topic in this encounter between Jesus and the religious leaders of the day. What may be surprising is how central Jesus himself is in enabling forgiveness.
